Darrell Albert Litzau

Funeral services for Darrell Litzau, age 60, of Glencoe were at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 1, 2000 at the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Lester Prairie.

Officiating was the Rev. Grant Bode. The organist was Jane Holasek. The congregational hymns were "Amazing Grace," "How Great thou Art," and "Softly And Tenderly."

Serving as casketbearers were Randy Mielke, Jason Mielke, Darren Litzau, Bill Litzau, Kim Litzau, and Jack Litzau. Interment was in the First Lutheran Cemetery in Glencoe.

Darrell Albert Litzau was born the son of Paul and Edna (Scheiddger) Litzau August 13, 1939 in Glencoe, Minn.

He was baptized and confirmed at the First Evangelist. Lutheran Church in Glencoe. Darrell attended First Lutheran Parochial School and graduated from the Glencoe High School in 1957.

On Jan. 9, 1959 in Minneapolis, Darrell enlisted in the United States Army where he earned the Good Conduct Medal. He served his country until Nov. 9, 1960 when he received an honorable discharge in Bamberg, Germany.

Darrell served another term in the army from Sept. 24, 1963 through his discharge on Sept. 24 1966.

On Oct. 30, 1963, Darrell was united in marriage with Donna M. Erickson in Fort Smith, Ark. The couple made their home in Luverne, Minn. until 1979 when they moved to Lester Prairie.

Since 1989, Darrell and Donna have lived in Glencoe. Darrell had worked at Lester's, Bongards Creameries, and Green Giant.

On Sunday, May 28, 2000, Darrell Albert Litzau entered his eternal rest at the age of 60 years, nine months, and 15 days.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother Ronald; brothers Allen, John, Donald, and David; and sister Elizabeth Mathews.

Darrell is survived by wife: Donna of Glencoe, daughter Darla Burandt (Howard) of New Auburn, and son Paul Litzau (Magdelena) of Glencoe; grandchildren Elizabeth and Theodore Burandt, Jocelyn and Michelle Litzau; brothers Gene Litzau (Wanda) of Glencoe, Richard Litzau (Sharon) of Atwater; sister Sharon Mielke (Alan) of Biscay; sisters-in-law and brothers in -law Hillard Mathews of Lester Prairie, Janette Litzau of Forest City, Audrey Litzau of Lester Prairie, Sidney and Elaine Holberg of Gaylord, William and Mavis Seitz of Cedar Raids, Iowa, as well as many nieces, nephews, and relatives and friends.
