Fred H. Luedke

Fred H. Luedke, age 82 of New Germany, died Wednesday, May 12, 1999, at Good Samaritan Center, Waconia.

Fred was born Oct. 1, 1916, at Hollywood Township, Carver County, Minn., the son of Charles and Magdelen Noerenberg Luedke. He was baptized Oct. 22, 1916 at St. John Lutheran Church, Hollywood Township, by the Rev. W. L. Ernst, and confirmed there by the same April 13, 1930.

On Oct. 12, 1937, he married Gladys O. Roepke at St. John Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ernst officiating.

Fred worked for Tonka Toys in Mound after retiring from farming.

He is survived by his wife Gladys; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Shirley Luedke of New Germany; grandchildren: LoriAnn and Russel Schurmann of Lester Prairie, David and Donna Luedke of Nevis, and Bradley and Pamela Luedke of New Germany; great-grandchildren: Jeremy, Hannah, Tyler, Ashley, Casey, Trevor, Austin, and McKenna.

He is further survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Doris Luedke of Winsted; a sister, Luella Hecksel of Winsted; sisters-in-law, Erna Luedke of Maple Plain, Inez Hahn of Waconia; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Magdalen Luedke; sister, Cordella Lemmermann; brothers, Edwin and Reuben Luedke; half brother, Walter Narr; two brothers in infancy, Herbert and Raymond Luedke; sisters-in-law, Adeline Luedke, Verna Luedke; brothers-in-law, Wallace Hecksel and Carl Lemmermann; father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Louise Roepke; and brother-in-law, Marvin Hahn.

Funeral services were Saturday, May 15, 1999, 11 a.m., at St. John Lutheran Church, Hollywood Township, New Germany, with the Rev. Ronald L. Mathison officiating. Interment was at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, New Germany.

Casket bearers were Russel Schurmann, David Luedke, Bradley Luedke, Marlow Hecksel, Harlan Hecksel, and Kenneth Strei.

Arrangements were by Johnson Funeral Home of Waconia.
