Clarence Hubert Wilhelm Luedke, age 95 of Winsted, died
Tuesday, May 25, 1999, at St. Mary’s Care Center, Winsted.
Clarence was born Oct. 18, 1903, in Hollywood Township,
Carver County, Minn., to Charles and Magdalena Noerenberg Luedke. He was
baptized Nov. 15, 1903, at St. John Lutheran Church in Hollywood Township
by the Rev. Theodore Rolf, and confirmed there March 24, 1918, by the Rev.
W. L. Ernst.
On Sept. 12, 1928, Clarence and Adeline Dennin were married
at St. John Lutheran Church in Hollywood Township by the Rev. W. L. Ernst.
Their union was blessed with one daughter, Darlene.
On April 20, 1968, Clarence married Doris (Foss) Krause
at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Winsted, with the Rev. G. Michael
officiating.
Clarence farmed in Hollywood Township until retiring in
1968. In retirement, he worked for several years as an electrician and mechanic
for Green Giant Canning Company; and he spent his leisure time visiting
family and friends, and fishing and traveling with his wife, Doris.
He was active in his churches, serving St. John Lutheran
Church in Hollywood as elder, trustee, board of education member and treasurer,
and St. John’s in Winsted as elder. He was a member of the Men’s Club in
both churches and was also a member of the Lutheran Layman’s League.
Clarence is survived by his wife Doris; step-children,
Greg (Kathy) Krause of Willmar and Debi (Sandy) Anderson of Bloomington;
grandchildren, Randall (Diane) Mielke of Lester Prairie and Sharon (Scott)
Iversen of Excelsior; step-grandchildren: Heather (Jon) Augdahl of Burnsville,
Heidi Maresh of Minneapolis, Ange Krause of Chicago and Andy Krause of Willmar;
great-grandchildren: Christine, Craig and Carey Schrupp and Matthew Mielke.
He is further survived by a sister, Luella Hecksel of Winsted;
sisters-in-law: Gladys Luedke of New Germany and Erna Luedke of Maple Plain;
a son-in-law: Richard Mielke of New Germany; and many extended-family members
and friends who he always held dear, including nieces, nephews, cousins,
other relatives and friends (his relatives of the heart).
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, Charles
and Magdalena; first wife, Adeline; daughter, Darlene (Mrs. Richard) Mielke;
brothers: Edwin, Reuben and Fred; sister, Cordella (Mrs.Carl) Lemmerman;
half-brother, Walter Narr; sister-in-law, Verna Luedke; brother-in-law,
Wallace Hecksel; nieces, Opal (Mrs. Jon) Schwichtenberg and Ardell Heller;
and two infant brothers.
Friends and family joined in visitation and prayer at the
Chilson Funeral Home, Winsted, Friday, May 28 from 4 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services were Saturday, May 29, 2 p.m. at St. John’s
Evangelical Lutheran Church, Winsted, with the Rev Gerald L. Boldt officiating.
Interment followed at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Hollywood Township.
“Beautiful Savior” and “I Know that My Redeemer
Lives” were sung as congregational hymns. A friend, Marsha Christenson,
was the organist for the funeral service.
Casket bearers were Harlan Hecksel, Marlow Hecksel, Dennis
Luedke, Donald Luedke, Earl Mielke, Richard Mielke, Roger Maresh and Donald
Urbach.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
