Brian K. Luhman
Brian K. Luhman, age 40 of Montrose, died accidentally on Monday, July 26, 1999, near Maple Plain.
Brian was born in Litchfield on Jan. 20, 1959, the son of Adelbert A. and Patricia J. (McKay) Luhman. He was baptized on Feb. 15, 1959, at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake. Brian was also instructed in the Lutheran catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith at St. James Lutheran Church on May 6, 1973. He was given Joshua 1:9 as his confirmation memory verse.
Brian graduated from Howard Lake-Waverly High School in 1977 and later, attended Mankato Technical College for two years.
On Sept. 14, 1985, Brian was joined in holy marriage to Joleen Beth Dalchow at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Delano. God blessed their marriage with three children.
He has been employed for the past nine years at Randy's Sanitation in Delano and presently served as the firm's training and developmental supervisor.
Brian was a faithful member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Montrose and formerly served as an elder and an usher. He also was a longtime Montrose volunteer fireman and presently served as the first assistant chief of the Montrose Fire Department.
Brian is survived by his wife Joleen; children, Katelyn Claire, age 9; Eric Alexander, age 7; and Brandon Lee, age 2, all at home; his mother, Patricia J. (Harold) Reardon of Waverly; his father, Adelbert A. "Bert" (Geraldine) Luhman of Lake City; sisters, Debra D. (Bruce) Salonek of Atlanta and Julie M. (Kym) Clark of Minnetonka; five step-brothers and one step-sister.
He is further survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roy and Luella Dalchow of Montrose; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Clyde (Les) Dalchow of Montrose, Lynn (Larry) Weinzierl of Norwood Young America, Cheryl (Troy) Kriesch of Buffalo; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Thursday, July 29, 1999, 11 a.m., at the Montrose Community Center with the Rev. David Bode officiating. Interment followed at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Montrose.
Friends called at the Peterson Chapel, Buffalo, Wednesday, July 28 from 4 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Steve Custer, Jeff Luhman, Brian Manson, Gene Darveaux, Andrew Dalchow, Ryan Dalchow, Aaron Dalchow and Henry Weinzierl served as casket bearers.
"On Eagles' Wings," "I Walk in Danger All the Way" and "Let Us Ever Walk with Jesus" were sung as congregational hymns.
The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo served the family.
