Fritz Frank Mahlstedt
Fritz Frank Mahlstedt, age 86 of Howard Lake, died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2000, in Meeker County Memorial Hospital, Litchfield.
Fritz was born Aug. 9, 1914, to Henry and Irene (Zander) Mahlstedt at Albion Center, Minn. He was baptized as an adult at the Church of Christ and confirmed at Bethlehem Evangelical Reform Church, Albion Center.
Fritz married Mabel Schendel May 26, 1937, at the St. James parsonage by the Rev. C. G. Seltz.
Fritz and Mabel made their home in Howard Lake until 1952, when they moved to the farm in Victor Township. While in Howard Lake, Fritz managed animals at the Eddy Tree Farm.
Once on the farm, in addition to farming, Fritz drove milk truck for Pure Milk Products for 19 years.
Retiring in 1967, Fritz and Mabel moved back to Howard Lake and Fritz did various jobs.
In April of 1999, they moved to Cokato, living there until Mabel's death in May, 2000. Fritz then moved to the Howard Lake Good Samaritan Home, where he lived until his death.
Fritz was interested in farming, fishing, and vehicles.
Faith was a very important part of Fritz' life. He served as a deacon and elder in his church.
At the time of his death, Fritz had reached the age of 86 years, two months, and 29 days.
He is survived by his children, Deanna (Richard) Augustine of Chippewa Falls, Wis.; Virgil (Linda) Mahlstedt of Hastings, Minn.; Lester (Sherry) Mahlstedt of Lester Prairie; and Betty (David) Workman of Cokato; seven grandchildren; six great great-grandchildren; and sisters, Rebecca (Ed) Dalbec, Lorraine (Frederic) Reimer, and Eliza (Ervin) Haag.
In addition to his wife Mabel, Fritz was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Audrey; grandchildren, Mark and Suzanne; brothers, Max and Walter; and sisters, Francis Hoffman and Helen Duske.
Funeral services were Saturday, Nov. 11, 10 a.m., at First Presbyterian Church, Howard Lake, with the Rev. Richard G. Smith officiating. Music was provided by Dennis Entinger. Interment was in the Howard Lake City Cemetery.
Jeff Augustine, Brad Ernst, David Mahlstedt, Matt Bentz, Paul Condon, and Nic Workman served as casket bearers.
Visitation took place Friday, Nov. 10, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home, Howard Lake, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.; and also one hour prior to the service at church.
Arrangements were by Swanson-Peter Funeral Home, Cokato and Howard Lake.
