Edna Alma Oelfke

Funeral services for Edna Alma Oelfke, 89, of Winsted and formerly of Glencoe, were held on Monday, Sept. 13, from the Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Auburn, with the Rev. Thomas Boe officiating.

On Thursday, Sept. 9, 1999, Mrs. Oelfke died at the St. Mary's Care Center in Winsted.

Organist was Marie Eischens, and the congregational hymns were "Just As I Am," "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace."

Pallbearers were Iven Alsleben and Melvin Burmeister. Interment was in the High Island Cemetery in New Auburn.

Edna A. Winter was born to Fred and Caroline (Tessmer) Winter on Dec. 12, 1909, in New Auburn Township. She was baptized as an infant and was confirmed in the New Auburn area.

She spent her childhood on a farm in New Auburn Township until she was united in marriage to Elmer G. Oelfke on April 21, 1929, in the Church of Peace of Glencoe. The couple made their home in Glencoe for a while before moving to St. Paul and then to California, where they lived for the next 25 years.

In 1975, they moved back to Glencoe, and in 1995, Mrs. Oelfke moved into St. Mary's Care Center in Winsted.

Mrs. Oelfke enjoyed needle working and crocheting.

Survivors include her grandchildren, Mark Tackabury and wife, Nancy, of Welch, Minn., Carrie Schultz of Litchfield; great-grandchildren, Kristina Tackabury, Rebecca Tackabury and Theresa Tackabury; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmer; her daughter, Evangeline Tackabury.

The Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel of Glencoe handled arrangements.
