Gertrude “Gert” Ogitziak obituary, 12/14/99


Gertrude “Gert” Ogitziak, age 81 of Winsted,
died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999, at her daughter’s residence.
Gertrude was born near Silver Lake on Oct. 27, 1918, the
daughter of Anton and Agnes (Mickolichek) Greshowiak.
On Nov. 24, 1937, Gertrude was joined in holy marriage
to Clarence Ogitziak at St. Adalbert Catholic Church, Silver Lake.
Following their marriage, Gertrude and Clarence worked
at a mink farm between Glencoe and Silver Lake. Later, the couple moved
to Winsted, and Gert was employed for many years as a leadlady at Tonka
Toys, Mound.
A faithful member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church,
Winsted, Gert was also a member of the St. Anne Society.
She is survived by a daughter, Marlene (Kenny) Zimmermann;
a grandson, Kenneth (Jackie) Zimmermann; great-grandchildren, Brooke and
Anthony Zimmermann, all of Winsted; a sister, Anne Stanoch of Minneapolis;
sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, LaVerna Greshowiak, Dorothy Gatz Baird,
Marcella Mikesh, Ann Brunberg, Adeline Lindstrom, Alma Ogitziak and Henry
(Ethel) Ogitziak; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
Gert was preceded in death by her beloved husband Clarence
on Nov. 7, 1985; her parents, Anton and Agnes Greshowiak; brothers and sisters,
Leonard Greshowiak in infancy, Clara Birkholz, John “Jack” Greshowiak,
Betty Patterson and Albin Greshowiak.
A Mass of Christian Burial was Saturday, Dec. 18, 11 a.m.,
at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Winsted. The Rev. Paul L. Wolf was the
celebrant and interment followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Friends called at the Chilson Funeral Home, Winsted, on
Friday, Dec. 17 from 4 to 8 p.m. A St. Anne Society Rosary was recited at
4:30 p.m. and a prayer service followed at 7 p.m.
Brooke and Anthony Zimmermann served as the gift bearers
for the Mass. Lavon Kielkucki and Bruce Gatz provided special music. The
lector was Mary Jo Kopesky, and Francis Schommer was the commentator for
the Mass.
Paul Gatz, Bruce Gatz, Brad Mikesh, Ron Karels, Duane Kopesky
and Bernie Lueck served as the casket bearers.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
