Howard Edward Oliver
Funeral services were Dec. 6, 1999, at Faith Lutheran Church, Hutchinson, for Howard Edward Oliver, age 78 of Hutchinson. Howard died Thursday, Dec. 2, 1999.
The Revs. Paulus Pilgrim and Randy Freund officiated at the service. Shirley Holtz was the organist and Dave Skaar was the soloist, singing "How Great Thou Art." Congregational hymns were "Amazing Grace" and "What A Friend We Have In Jesus."
Casket bearers were Ron Carlson, Gordon Tapper, James Bruggers, Glen Getzke, Mark Wood and Ross Heilman.
Howard was born Feb. 23, 1921, in Maple Lake, the son of Edward and Ruth (Blakeley) Oliver. He was baptized as an infant and confirmed in his faith as a youth. He attended schools at Howard Lake and Cokato, graduating from Cokato High School.
Oliver married Ramona Lindgren on June 22, 1941. They had four children.
Oliver went to barber school and was employed as a barber for about six years. He was also a salesman for Gilmer Monument Company, Howard Lake, from 1950 to 1956. He then became a financial planner for Investors Diversified Services (IDS) in Litchfield for 30 years until his retirement.
A member of Faith Lutheran Church, Hutchinson, Oliver was also a Mason.
He is survived by his wife Ramona; sons, Craig Oliver and wife, Regina, of South Range, Wis.; and Brad Oliver and wife, Ellen, of St. Louis Park; daughter, Tammy Adamietz and husband, Lon, of Plymouth; five grandchildren; and a sister, Gladys Ferrell of St. Paul Park.
Oliver was preceded in death by his parents; son, David Oliver; and brother, Richard Oliver.
Interment was at Oakland Cemetery.
