Donald Earl Olson
Donald Earl Olson, age 77 of Waverly, died Sunday, July 9, 2000, at the Buffalo Hospital.
Donald was born Oct. 27, 1922, in Dassel, Minn., to Harry Earl Olson and Annie Mathilda Onell.
He was married to Caroline Decker Jan. 31, 1951. They were blessed with six sons.
Donald served in the United States Navy during World War II, attaining the rank of machinist's mate second class.
Upon leaving the military, Donald worked as a carpenter, as well as running a farm outside of Waverly. He continued living on the farm in Marysville Township after his retirement.
Donald was preceded in death by his wife Caroline; a son, James Richard; parents, Harry and Annie Olson; and brothers, Eldon, Vernon, Lawrence, and Cliffard Olson.
He is survived by five sons: Gerald (Joan) Olson of Waverly, Thomas (Sherry) Olson of Cokato, Robert Olson, Kenneth Olson, and Leonard Olson, all of Waverly.
Funeral services were Wednesday, July 12, 10 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Waverly, with the Rev. Robert Wiley, SM, officiating. Music was provided by St. Mary's Church choir and organist, Therese Borrell. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Scott Christianson, Steve Decker, Donnie Decker, Craig Stevenson, Pat Decker, and Keith Decker.
Visitation took place from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, at Iten Funeral Home, Delano, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.; and continued for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Arrangements were by the Iten Funeral Home, Delano.
