Elmer E. Ortloff
Elmer E. Ortloff, age 82 of Santa Cruz, Calif. and formerly of Minneapolis, died Tuesday, March 9, 1999, at the Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz.
Elmer was born in Glencoe on June 3, 1916, the son of Fred and Lillian Otto Ortloff.
He was baptized at First Lutheran Church, Glencoe on July 2, 1916. He was instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith at the same church by the Rev. E. Kolbe on June 22, 1930.
Elmer was joined in holy marriage to Adeline E. "Dolly" O'Hagan in Glencoe on April 8, 1939. God blessed their marriage with four children. Elmer and Dolly have been residents of California for the past seven years after moving from Minneapolis.
Elmer was employed in maintenance for 28 years by the Minneapolis Public Schools. He later worked for 12 years as a custodian at a United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife Dolly; children: Winifred (Robert) Velner of Suprise, Ariz.; Robert (Joyce) Ortloff of Arlington, Texas; Patricia Ann Ouellette of Hawaii; and Michael D. Ortloff of San Jose, Calif.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by a sister, Dorothy Bartels of Los Angeles, Calif.; other relatives and friends.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Elaine Ortloff and Irene Schuetz.
Funeral services wre Saturday, March 13, 2 p.m., at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted with the Rev. Gerald L. Boldt officiating. Lavon Kielkucki was the organist. Interment followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Friends called at the funeral home on Saturday one hour prior to the funeral service.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
