Cecil J. Osterbauer
Cecil J. Osterbauer, age 78 of Faribault and formerly of Winsted, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999 at District One Hospital in Faribault.
Cecil was born in Victor Township, Wright County, on Jan. 19, 1921, the son of Michael and Florence Aritt Osterbauer.
He attended Holy Trinity Schools in Winsted and served two years in the Civilian Conservation Corps working in national parks in the western United States.
On June 30, 1947, Cecil was joined in holy marriage to Eleanore Wawrzyniak at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Silver Lake. God blessed their marriage with two sons: Harold and Ron. Eleanore preceded her husband in death on June 7, 1988.
Cecil was a long-time foreman at Mid-America Dairymen, Inc. in Winsted. Upon his retirement in 1985, Cecil was recognized by Mid-America Dairymen for 35 years of continuous service.
A member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, Cecil also belonged to the Knights of Columbus Council #8253 and to the Catholic Order of Foresters Holy Trinity Court #1054. Cecil served on the Winsted Volunteer Fire Department from 1958-1978.
Cecil loved the out-of-doors and devoted much of his free time to fishing with his grandchildren and observing nature. Following his retirement, he volunteered for the River Bend Nature Center in Fari-bault and helped restore hardwood forests.
Cecil is survived by sons, Harold (Christine) Osterbauer of Delano and Ron (Peggy) Osterbauer of Faribault; grandchildren, Jeremy and Justin Osterbauer of Delano and Maggie Osterbauer of Fari-bault.
He is further survived by two sisters, Imelda (Don) Marshall of Winsted and Doris Obinger of Albertville; many other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife Eleanore, Cecil was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harold; and a sister, Magdalen Cantin.
A Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. The Rev. Paul L. Wolf was the celebrant. Interment followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Friends called at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted on Tuesday, March 2, from 4 to 9 p.m. A parish prayer service was at 8 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus rosary was recited at 8:30 p.m. Visitation continued at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 3, from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m.
Casket bearers were Jeremy and Justin Osterbauer, Jim Bayerl, Gene Wawrzyniak, Jim Fasching and Mark Obinger.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested for Bethlehem Academy in Faribault or Holy Trinity Educational Trust Fund in Winsted.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
