Jacqueline Suzanne Pilarski
Mass of Christian Burial for Jacqueline Suzanne Pilarski, 66, of Glencoe was held Friday, Aug. 27, from the Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe, with the Rev. Eugene Lozinski officiating.
Mrs. Pilarski died on Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1999.
Organist was Emily Wilkins. The song leader was Joanne Pohland, and soloist August Makovsky sang "Just A Closer Walk With Thee." The congregational hymns were "On Eagle's Wings," "I Am the Bread of Life," "Come To Her Aid" and "Prayer of St. Francis."
Pallbearers were Jeffrey Butler, Tom Kukowski, Dale Miska, Russell Noyes, Glenn Pilarski and Neil Wegner. Interment was in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Jacqueline Suzanne Kowalczyk was born to Harry M. and Marcella J. (Lambert) Kowalczyk on Jan. 29, 1933, in Winona. She was baptized at the Church of St. Stanislaus in Winona. In 1945, she received the sacrament of confirmation at the Church of St. Mary in Winona.
She graduated from the Winona High School and enlisted in the United States Air Force where she served until her honorable discharge on Sept. 16, 1954. She attended Winona Secretarial School.
On Aug. 28, 1957, she was united in marriage with Philip J. Pilarski at the Church of St. Mary in Winona. The couple made their home in Winona, McGrath in Minnesota, Ashland, Wis., Gila Bend, Ariz., and Eyota, Minn. before moving to Glencoe. The couple raised seven children.
Mrs. Pilarski worked as a teacher's aid in the Glencoe School District until May of 1998.
She was a member of the Council of Catholic Women and the Silver Lake American Legion. Mrs. Pilarski was an avid golfer, winning the Glencoe Country Club women's championship 13 times.
Survivors include her husband, Philip of Glencoe; daughters, Marcie Noyes and husband, Russell, of Minneapolis, Marie Butler and husband, Jeffrey, of Champlin, Melanie Pilarski and fiance, Nathan Niehus, of Winner, S.D., Mindy Pilarski of Glencoe; sons, John Pilarski and wife, Kimberly, of Minneapolis, James Pilarski and wife, Denise, of Annandale, and Joseph Pilarski and wife, Sandra, of Winona; grandchildren, Nicole Pilarski, Noah Butler, Christopher Pilarski, Danielle Pilarski; brothers, Myron Kowalczyk and wife, Jan, of Rochester, James Kowalczyk and wife, Pam, of Winona; sisters, Phyllis Kukowski and husband, Tom, of Winona, Harriet Kennedy and husband, Mark, of Temple, Texas; aunt, Eleanor Kulas of Winona; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and grandsons, Jack and Robert Pilarski.
The Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel of Glencoe handled arrangements.
