Henry George Poshek
Henry George Poshek, age 91 of Silver Lake, died from cancer Sunday, Oct. 24, 1999, at Glencoe Area Health Center.
Henry was born May 24, 1908, in Hale Township, McLeod County, the son of George and Appolonia Poshek. He attended Pleasant Hill District 25 school to the eighth grade.
Henry worked as a farmer on the family farm. Settled by the Posheks, the farm is over 100 years old and has been worked for three generations.
On Oct. 20, 1937, Henry married Gladys Ann Novak. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary this year.
A member of the Holy Family Church, Henry also belonged to the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife Gladys; children, Henry (wife, Barbara), Samuel, and Susan Brancauro (husband, Ron); brother-in-law, Charles and Angie Novak; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Alice Poshek.
Henry was preceded in death by his father, George; mother, Appolonia; brother, Chester; and sister, Irene McCune.
Funeral services were Thursday, Oct. 28, 1999, at the Church of the Holy Family, Silver Lake, with the Rev. Bob Mraz officiating. Hymns were "Be Not Afraid," "On Eagle's Wings," "Here I Am, Lord," and "Amazing Grace."
Interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery, Silver Lake. Anthony Poshek, Douglas Poshek, Chris Poshek, John Poshek, Richard Novak, and Robert Novak served as pallbearers.
Maresh Funeral Home, Silver Lake, handled the arrangements.
