Frederic Anthony Reimer
Frederic Anthony Reimer, age 87 of Winsted and formerly of Howard Lake, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2000, at St. Mary's Care Center, Winsted.
Frederic was born July 26, 1913, to Frederic J. and Freda (Wolff) Reimer, at Minneapolis, Minn. Both of Frederic's parents died when he was young.
Frederic was raised by his mother's parents on the farm in Albion Township. He was baptized in Minneapolis, and confirmed at the Bethlehem Evangelical and Reformed Church of Albion. He attended country school at Albion.
On April 12, 1939, Frederic was united in marriage to Lorraine Mahlstedt at Bethlehem Evangelical and Reformed Church by the Rev. Grupe.
Frederic and Lorraine farmed and raised their family in Woodland Township.
In 1966, Frederic and Lorraine sold the farm and moved to Howard Lake. Frederic tried a few jobs around town, and finally, settled in at the Cokato Farmers Elevator. He worked there until he retired in 1978, and enjoyed being a part of the farming community.
Very active in his church, Frederic was on the church board, taught Sunday school, and sang in the choir.
For a time, he was on the District 67 school board of Woodland Township.
Frederic liked to read, and during his lifetime, read the Bible through four times.
At the time of his death, Frederick had reached the age of 87 years and 23 days.
He is survived by his wife Lorraine of Howard Lake; a son, Fred Jr. (Marie) of Montrose, a daughter, Linda (Joel) Zabel of Delano; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Reimer of Howard Lake; 11 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren.
He is further survived by a sister, Florence Ruetten of Austin; brother-in-law, Fritz Mahlstedt; and sisters-in-law, Rebecca Dahlbec and Eliza (Ervin) Haag.
Frederic is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Phillip; a step-grandson, Nicholas Anderson; and sisters, Marie Bleckert and Margaret Reimer.
Funeral services were Monday, Aug. 21, 2 p.m., at United Church of Christ, Maple Lake, with the Rev. Dave Martens officiating. Interment was at United Church of Christ Cemetery.
Visitation was Sunday, Aug. 20, from 4 to 9 p.m. at the church.
Pallbearers were Jeff Reimer, David Zabel, John LePage, Norman Duske, Stanley Duske, and Orville Horsch. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Churchill, Rick Anderson, Mike Melott, Randy Latzig, Rob Bliven, John Reimer, and Marcus Schmidt.
Arrangements were by Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home, Inc., Cokato and Howard Lake.
