Raymond Joseph Remer
Raymond Joseph Remer, age 77 and formerly of Winsted, died Wednesday, June 28, 2000, at Lakeview Care Center, Clear Lake.
Raymond was born on July 17, 1922 in Winsted Township, McLeod County, the son of Alois "Al" and Louise Hemerick Remer. He was baptized July 18, 1922 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Winsted, by the Rev. Joseph Krueter, OSB.
Ray worked at the Green Giant Company, Winsted, for many years. He also often worked as a farmhand for area farmers.
Survivors include his sisters and brothers: Isabelle (Marvin) Lindenberg of Howard Lake, Eleanor (Otto) Birkholtz of Waverly, Gertrude (Edward) Lyrek Sr., of Montrose, Margaret Huhn of Litchfield, Walter (Mary Ann) Remer of Waverly, Rose Ann (John) Moore of Edina, Aggie (Ray) Yurek of Silver Lake, and Eileen (Homer) Berum of Livingston, Mont.; a sister-in-law, Marcy (Leon) Wickenhauser of Cologne, and many other relatives and friends.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ronald Remer; a sister, Marie Getz; nephews and niece, David, Jeffrey and Catherine Lyrek, Cletus Birkholtz, and Terry Remer.
A Mass of Christian Burial was Saturday, July 1, 10 a.m., at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Winsted. The Rev. Paul L. Wolf was the celebrant and interment followed at the church cemetery.
Gorden Lyrek, Don Huhn, Ray Getz, Doug Yurek, Bruce Remer, and Randy Yurek served as casket bearers.
Friends called from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 30, at the Chilson Funeral Home, Winsted, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
