Mass of Christian Burial for Calvin J. Robling, age 72
of Victoria, Minn., was Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at St. Victoria Catholic
Church in Victoria. Calvin died Saturday, April 17, 1999, at Good Samaritan
Center, Waconia, Minn.
The son of Benedict C. and Freida W. Neumann Robling, Calvin
was born Oct. 24, 1926, at Laketown Township, Carver County, Minn. He was
baptized and confirmed at St. Victoria Catholic Church in Victoria.
On June 3, 1953, Calvin married Margie Straus at St. Joseph’s
Catholic Church in Waconia by the Rev. Landelin Robling OSB.
Calvin worked for Leuthners Well Drilling and Continental
Machines for 30 years. He served in the Army and was a member of the Victoria
American Legion.
A member of Waconia Knights of Columbus and St. Victoria
Catholic Aid, Calvin was also active in the church in praying the rosary,
funeral help, carnival, church council, and as an usher.
Calvin enjoyed his grandchildren, as well as fishing, traveling,
playing cards, and being everyone’s friend.
He is survived by his wife Margie; daughter, Betty Robling
and fiancee, Cliff Christian, of Hopkins; sons and daughters-in-law, John
and Jane Robling of Waconia and James and Donna Robling of Victoria; and
his grandchildren: Lindsay, Barbara, Jacob, Kelsey and Nicholas.
He is further survived by brothers and sisters-in-law,
the Rev. Landelin Robling OSB of Hastings, Wilbert and Jeanette Robling
of Jordan, and Wallace and Phyllis Robling of Chaska; sister and brother-in-law,
Joanne and Harold Krueger of Winsted; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law,
Loretta Straus, Marvin and Beatrice Straus, and Florian and Marietta Straus,
all of Waconia; aunts, Emma Lemke of Belle Plaine, Rosella Neumann and Delores
Neumann, both of Waconia, and Isabel Robling of Shakopee; nieces, nephews,
other relatives and friends.
Calvin was preceded in death by an infant son; his parents,
Ben and Frieda Robling; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Hans and Appie
Straus; brother-in-law, Joseph Straus; and nephew, Tom Straus.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. at St. Victoria Catholic
Church in Victoria with the Revs. Landelin Robling OSB and Bob White as
concelebrants. Interment was in St. Victoria Catholic Cemetery in Victoria,
with a military service by the Victoria American Legion.
Casket bearers were Rick Krueger, Tony Robling, Steve Robling,
Henry Green, Steve Pulkrabek, John Straus, Roger Peterman, and Harlan Lemke.
Honorary casket bearers were Ruddy Frankamp, Wilbert Kelzer, Willard Bongard,
Victor Baert, Lloyd Ebert, and Tom Walsh.
Arrangements were by the Johnson Funeral Home of Waconia.
