Kenneth Roepke

Kenneth Roepke, age 50 of Eau Claire, Wis., and formerly of Dassel, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 1999, after an illness.

Kenneth was born May 20, 1949, the son of Ardell and Elaine (Schwalbe) Roepke. He was baptized at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, New Germany, by the Rev. Fred Pfotenhauer; and confirmed in his faith at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Watertown, March 22, 1964, by the Rev. Wetzel.

On Nov. 4, 1967, Kenneth was united in marriage to Shirley Jordan at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Watertown, by the Rev. Henry Miller. They made their home in Dassel and were blessed with two children.

As a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Howard Lake, Ken served as a Sunday school teacher.

Recently, Ken and Shirley moved to Eau Claire, Wis., where they joined Peace Lutheran Church.

After becoming ill, Ken entered the Clairmont Nursing Home. On Nov. 27, 1999, Ken was called to his eternal rest at the age of 50 years, six months, and seven days.

He is survived by his parents, Ardell and Elaine Roepke of Cokato; wife, Shirley of Eau Claire, Wis.; one daughter, Sherry Penke and husband, Matthew, of Golden Valley; one son, Daniel Roepke of Eau Claire, Wis.; three brothers, Roger and wife, Ethel, of Howard Lake, Sheldon of Cokato, and Allen and wife, Mavis, of Dassel; two sisters, Susan Zeidler of Kimball, and Diane Reisdorfer and husband, Rick, of Adrian; nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Nov. 30, at St. James Lutheran Church, Howard Lake, with the Revs. Michael Nirva and Martin Schoenfeld officiating. The organist was Nancy Butterfass.

Interment was at the Crow River Cemetery, New Germany, with Ken's cousin, the Rev. Gary Klatt, conducting the committal service.

Pallbearers were Aaron Zeidler, Jeff Roepke, Ryan Wolf, James Jordan, Allan Milberandt, Garfield Martischuski, Michael Jarvenpaa, and Dan Krueger.

Arrangements were by the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home of Howard Lake.
