Ella Louise Minna Rolf
Funeral services for Ella L. Rolf, 94, of Mayer were held Jan. 30 at Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer by the Rev. Peter A. Meier.
Ella died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999 at St. Mary's Care Center in Winsted.
The pallbearers were Aaron Kubasch, Kendell Kubasch, Daryl Samuelson, Steve Samuelson, Ron Stark, Rodney Brandenburg, Kevin Raether and Kyle Raether. Interment was at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Mayer.
Ella Louise Minna Rolf was born March 8, 1904 in Camden Township, Carver County, to Max and Marie (Zastrow) Dinsel. She was baptized on April 24, 1904 at Zion Lutheran Church Helvetia by the Rev. Karl Kollmorgen, and confirmed on April 1, 1917 at Zion Lutheran Church Mayer by the Rev. F.W. Erthal.
On June 16, 1927, she was married to Edwin C. Rolf at Zion Lutheran Church Mayer by the Rev. F.W. Erthal. Ella and Edwin had three children: Martin, Paula and Lenora.
Ella was a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church. She sang in the choir for many years, and served as Zion School cook.
She also was a helper for her husband during the years he served on the school board, as the board member's families were expected to clean the school, put up the Christmas tree and other jobs.
Ella will be remembered for her handwork of all sorts, especially for her tatted crosses.
Ella and Edwin Rolf farmed near Mayer until 1968, when they moved to Mayer. Following her husband's death in 1986, Ella moved to an apartment in Waconia where she lived until 1995, when she moved to St. Mary's Health Care Center in Winsted.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Martin and Frances Rolf of Waconia; daughters and son-in-law, Paula Samuelson of Glencoe, and Lenora and Gordon Kubasch of Winsted; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law and husband, LeIsle and Dahle Plocher of Waconia; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin; son-in-law, Wayne Samuelson; parents, Max and Marie Dinsel; sisters, Myrtle Dinsel, Myrna Ehrke; half-brother, Walter Stark; and half-sister, Ruth Brandenburg.
The Johnson Funeral Chapel of Waconia handled arrangements.
