Melvin Walfred Rudquist
Melvin Walfred Rudquist, age 81 of Cokato, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 1999.
Melvin was born June 8, 1918, to Hjalmer and Helen (Peterson) Rudquist in Stockholm Township. He was baptized at the Stockholm Lutheran Church.
At the age of two, Melvin and his parents moved from Stockholm to Knapp, where Melvin attended school. He was confirmed in the Christian faith at Knapp Lutheran Church, later known as North Crow River Lutheran Church.
Melvin lived on the family farm all his life and kept horses. He enjoyed music, which included playing the accordian. He also like to fish, and enjoyed the company of his dog, Spud.
Melvin was called to his eternal rest Aug. 10, 1999, at the Cokato Manor. He had reached the age of 81 years, two months, and two days.
He is survived by his sisters, Vera Sandberg of Pine River, Dorothy (Kermit) Johnson of Cokato, Gladys Pettit of Howard Lake, Minnie Ackerblade of Osakis, Myrtle (Hubert) Luhman of Howard Lake, and Delores (Frank) Kerola of Brooklyn Center.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were Saturday, Aug. 14, 1999, at the North Crow River Lutheran Church, 2 p.m., with the Rev. Frank Schmeling officiating. Organist was Barb Root, and soloist was Brenda Rydberg.
Active pallbearers were Rodney Pettit, David Pettit, Galen Johnson, Michael Luhman, Roland Jensen, and Brandon Cannon.
Honorary pallbearers were Gordon Norberg, Kent Rydberg, Clifford Sundblad, Wayland Anderson, Oliver Johnson, and Daniel Christenson. Interment was at North Crow River Lutheran Cemetery.
Arrangements were by Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home, Cokato.
