Anna T. Ruzicka

Funeral services for Anna T. Ruzicka, 86, of Silver Lake were held on Saturday, Nov. 6, from the Church of the Holy Family in Silver Lake, with the Rev. Robert Mraz officiating.

Mrs. Ruzicka died on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, at Glencoe Area Health Center's long-term care facility.

Organist was Val Shamla, and the Holy Family Adult Choir sang "How Great Thou Art," "Oh God, Our Help In Ages Past," Immaculate Mary," "Bread of Life" and "Panis Angelicus."

Pallbearers were Rob Ruzicka, Jennifer Wurdell, Eric Ruzicka, Marisa Ruzicka, Ryan Ruzicka and Kimberly Ruzicka. Giftbearers were Jon Ruzicka, Jacqui Ruzicka and Amanda Ruzicka. Lector was Ron Penas. Interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery in Silver Lake.

Anna T. Zaruba was born on Nov. 2, 1913, in Hassan Valley Township, McLeod County, to Joseph and Mary (Koktan) Zaruba. She attended the Biscay country school and Hutchinson High School. She received teacher normal training in St. Cloud.

She was a country school teacher in Brownton, Biscay and Silver Lake. She also was a homemaker and farmed with her husband in Hale Township.

She married Richard J. Ruzicka on Oct. 25, 1944, in the St. Joseph Church in Silver Lake.

Her hobbies included gardening, baking and caring for farm animals.

Mrs. Ruzicka was a member of the Council of Catholic Women and the Rosary Society at the Church of the Holy Family.

Survivors include her husband, Richard; children, Roger and Mary Pat Ruzicka of Hutchinson, Dennis and Linda Ruzicka of Hutchinson, Dianne Ruzicka of Minnetonka, Larry and Barb Ruzicka of Silver Lake, Steven Ruzicka of Washington, D.C., and Kevin and Sue Ruzicka of Silver Lake; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Joseph, Albin, Charlie, John, Ed and George Zaruba; and sisters, Mary Zaruba, Emma Penas and Lillian Navratil.

The Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake handled the funeral arrangements.
