Rev. William Albert Schultz obituary, 5/5/2000


Funeral services for the Rev. William Albert Schultz, age
50 of Reinbeck, Iowa, and formerly of Howard Lake, were Tuesday, May 9,
2000, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, L.C.M.S., Reinbeck.
Schultz died Friday, May 5, 2000, at Covenant Medical Center,
Waterloo, Iowa, after a sudden heart attack at his home.
William was born Oct. 3, 1949, in Bridgeport, Conn., the
son of William L. and Irene (Seperack) Schultz. He was baptized at Zion
Lutheran Church, Bridgeport, Nov. 6, 1949; and confirmed there May 26, 1963.
He attended Zion Lutheran Elementary School and graduated
from Central High School, Bridgeport. He went on to attend Concordia College,
Bronxville, N.Y., and later, Concordia College, Seward, Neb.
On July 17, 1971, William was united in marriage to Harriet
Waters in New Jersey.
He completed Concordia Seminary in Ft. Wayne, Ind., and
was ordained in August 1978 at East Greenbush, N.Y.
Schultz taught in Glendale and Seaford, N.Y., and later,
was vicar at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Rockford, Ill. He served the
Lord as pastor at Love Lutheran Church, East Greenbush, N.Y.; Redeemer Lutheran
Church, Bayside, Queens, N.Y.; and also at St. James Lutheran Church, Howard
Lake.
Before coming to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Reinbeck;
Schultz had also been pastor at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Waterloo, Iowa.

William was preceded in death by his father in November
1986.
He is survived by his wife Harriet of Reinbeck; his children,
Kim and Randy of Davenport, Suzie and Colin of Singapore, and Bill, Jr.
of Reinbeck; two grandsons, Steven and Alexander Mester; his mother, Irene
Schultz of Bayonet Point, Fla.; and a sister, Barbara Schmieg of Howard
Lake.
The Rev. James Moog officiated at the 11 a.m. funeral service.
Burial was in Staten Island, N. Y. Friends called after noon Monday, May
8, at Hand Funeral Home, Reinbeck, where the family was present to greet
friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorials may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church,
Reinbeck, Iowa.
