Lorraine J. Schwalbe
Funeral services were Friday, July 7, for Lorraine J. Schwalbe, age 72 of Waconia. Lorraine died Tuesday, July 4, 2000, at Ridgeview Medical Center, Waconia.
Lorraine was born March 17, 1928, at Silver Creek, Minn., the daughter of Ernest and Bertha (Thurk) Klemz. She weas baptized April 27, 1928 at Zion Lutheran Church, Silver Creek, by the Rev. Alfred Streufert; and confirmed at the same July 13, 1941 by the Rev. Waldo Lemke.
On May 8, 1948, Lorraine married Harold W. Schwalbe at Zion Lutheran Church, Silver Creek, by the Rev. Martin Hauser.
In addition to being a Sunday school teacher, Lorraine was a member of the Ruth Guild (Lutheran Women's Missionary League), and also Seniors for Christ at her church.
She was preceded in death her granddaughters, Laura and Anne Schwalbe; parents, Ernest and Bertha Klemz; brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Clara Klemz; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Louise Schwalbe; and brothers-in-law, Ambrose Lundstrom and Roy Ketcher.
Lorraine is survived by her husband Harold; children and spouses: Ken and Rachel Schwalbe of Waconia; Chery and John Vinkemeier of Mayer; Connie and Dick Zander of Howard Lake; Joanne and Lyle Hartwig of Mayer; Janice and Bruce Fosmo of Waconia; Mark and Violet Schwalbe of Glencoe; Jim Schwalbe of Waconia; and Bev and Brad Schrupp of Norwood Young America; 22 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She is further survived by a sister, Eleanor Lundstrom of Excelsior, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Loretta and Vernon Jopp of New Germany, Irene and Alden Jopp of Mayer, Anita and Wilbert Zastrow of Mayer, Verna Ketcher of Maple Plaine, and Hilton and Lyla Schwalbe of Buffalo; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The Revs. Peter Peitsch and James Wilk officiated at the 11 a.m. funeral services at Trinity Lutheran Church, Waconia. Interment was at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Waconia.
Lorraine's children, Ken Schwalbe, Chery Vinkemeier, Connie Zander, Joanne Hartwig, Janice Fosmo, Mark Schwalbe, Jim Schwalbe, and Bev Schrupp, served as casket bearers.
