Melvin Carl Sieg, age 75 of Cokato, died Thursday, June
10, 1999.
Melvin was born July 19, 1923, in Stockholm Township, Minn.,
to Otto and Ida (Zander) Sieg. He was baptized and confirmed at St. James
Lutheran Church, Howard Lake.
On July 14, 1945, Melvin was united in marriage to Queenie
Bednar at Stockholm Lutheran Church. They had a son, Randy, who resides
in Scottsdale, Ariz., with his wife Peggy and 13-year-old son, Joshua. Joshua
was a source of pride and joy to his grandpa.
Melvin was a dependable employee for Green Giant, retiring
in 1986. However, Melvin never really retired. He was the local “Mr.
Fixit” and always had something to repair, from lawn mowers, rocking
chairs or saws to golf carts, or anything else that might need fixing.
Melvin passed away suddenly on Thursday, June 10, 1999,
in Litchfield, Minn., having reached the age of 75 years, 10 months, and
22 days.
He is survived by and will be deeply missed by his wife
Queenie; son, Randy (Peggy); grandson, Joshua; two sisters, Irma Katzenmeyer
of Hutchinson and Ardis Sexton of Watertown; any many other family and friends.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters,
Idella and Lucille, in infancy; a brother, Harvey; one niece; and one nephew.
Funeral services were Tuesday, June 15, 1999, 11 a.m.,
at Stockholm Lutheran Church with the Rev. Barbara McKinnon officiating.
Music was by Melba Anderson and Mike Grosser. Interment was in the Stockholm
Lutheran Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Steve Bednar, Chuck Lehtola, Michael
Stewart, James Sexton, Michael Sexton, and Patrick Sexton.
Arrangements were by Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home, Inc.,
Cokato and Howard Lake.
