Gordon Donald Smida
Gordon Donald "Gordy" Smida, age 66 of Chanhassen, and formerly of Silver Lake, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 1999, in Chanhassen.
Gordy was born Sept. 17, 1932, in Silver Lake, Minn.
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard, holding the ranks of seaman and port security patrolman during the Korean conflict.
Gordy was employed as a maintenance supervisor in the retail industry.
Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, Aug. 23, 1999, 11 a.m., at St. Hubert Catholic Community, Chanhassen.
Visitation was Sunday, Aug. 22, 4 to 7 p.m., at Huber Funeral Home, Excelsior, with a prayer service at 6 p.m.; and one hour prior to Mass on Monday at the church.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn; daughters, Gail and husband, Dan; Val, Sandy and Kris; grandchildren, Robin, Zach and Jack; brother, Glenn and wife, Lois; nieces and nephews; special friend, John Kurimchak; and many friends.
