Sharon Barbara Smith obituary, 10/3/2000


Sharon Barbara Smith, age 61 of Winsted and formerly of
Waverly, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, at Ridgeview Medical Center,
Waconia.
Sharon was born May 23, 1939, to Edward George and Elerine
Rose Smith in Waverly. She lived in Waverly most of her life.
After graduation from high school, Sharon went into the
nursing profession, becoming a certified nursing assistant (CNA). She was
employed by the Watertown Hospital until it closed, after which she transferred
to the Ridgeview Medical Center (then known as Waconia Hospital).
Sharon was forced to leave the nursing profession when
she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Her illness became so severe
that she became a resident of St. Mary’s Care Center, Winsted, for the final
years of her life.
Sharon was brought into this world to help care for others
in time of sickness. She left this world with her colleagues taking care
of her, and with her family right beside her in her last minutes.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Edward
George and Elerine Rose Smith; and her brother, Edward Dale Smith.
Sharon is survived by her nephews, Jon “Jack”
and Naomi Smith of Farmington, and Jay Smith of Excelsior; niece, Roxanne
and Allan Rudeck of Aurora, Minn.; sister-in-law, Mary Smith of Excelsior;
one great-nephew, and three great-nieces.
Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, Oct. 9, 10 a.m., at
the Church of St. Mary, Waverly, with the Rev. Robert Wiley, S.M., officiating.
Music was by Therese Borrell, organist, and the church choir. Interment
was in the church cemetery.
Visitation was Sunday, Oct. 8, at the church, and also
for one hour prior to the funeral service.
Arrangements were by Iten Funeral Home, Delano.
