Ethel P. Stender

Ethel P. Stender, age 91 of New Germany, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 1999, at Elim Home, Watertown.

Ethel was born March 10, 1908, in Hollywood Township, Carver County, Minn., the daughter of William and Emma (Zimmermann) Lang. She was baptized April 26, 1908, at St. John Lutheran Church, Hollywood Township, by the Rev. Theodore Rolf. She was confirmed at the same church April 9, 1922 by the Rev. W. L. Ernst.

On Sept. 1, 1926, Ethel married Victor Stender at St. John's Lutheran Church, Norwood Young America, by the Rev. M. F. Abraham.

Ethel was an honorary member of the St. Mark Lutheran Church Ladies Aid.

She was preceded in death by her husband Victor; daughter, Donna McKee; son-in-law, John McKee; grandson, Robert McKee; great-grandsons, Jerred McKee and Nathan Handberg; parents, William and Emma Lang; sister, Mabel Hainlin; brothers, Frank, Harry, Percy and Raymond Lang.

Ethel is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Doris and William Rank of Webster, Wis.; and Judy and Marlin Kohls of New Germany; grandchildren, Lynn and Marty Handberg, Tom and Sonja Rank, David and Vivian Rank, Susan and Jerome Gernander, John and Michelle Sein, Gregory and Susan McKee, Barbara and Mark Turvey, Julie and Jon Bednar, Terri and Paul Lano, James and Christine Kohls, Jeffrey Kohls and fiancee Jill Miller, Scott Kohls, Traci Kohls and Anthony Kohls.

She is further survived by 26 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Fred and Selma Stender of Norwood Young America; nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were Friday, Aug. 13, 1999, 2 p.m., from St. Mark Lutheran Church, New Germany, with the Rev. Edwin Narr officiating. Interment was at St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery, New Germany.

Casket bearers were Ethel's grandsons, Tom Rank, David Rank, Gregory McKee, James Kohls, Jeffrey Kohls, Scott Kohls, and Anthony Kohls.

Arrangements were by Johnson Funeral Home, Waconia.
