Alvin A. Stender
Alvin A. Stender, age 82 of New Germany, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, at St. Mary's Care Center, Winsted.
Alvin was born April 4, 1918, at Camden Township, Young America, Minn., the son of Gottlieb and Minnie L. (Gnade) Stender. He was baptized April 28, 1918, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Norwood Young America, by the Rev. A. Baumhoefene; and confirmed March 20, 1932, at the same church by the Rev. M. F. Abraham.
On Nov. 26, 1939, Alvin married Viola E. Rudloff at St. John's Church, Hollywood Twp., New Germany, by the Rev. W. L. Ernst.
Alvin is survived by his wife Viola; sons and daughters-in-law, Harlan and Barbara Stender of New Germany, and Milan and LeAnn Stender of Mayer; daughter and son-in-law, Cherryl and James Braunwarth of Norwood Young America; grandchildren, Allen and Lisa Stender, Michael Stender, Dawn and Michael Oman, Anna and Ryan Strand, James C. Braunwarth, and Matthew Braunwarth; and great-grandchildren, Spencer and Rachael Stender, Brianna Oman, and Gabrielle Strand.
He is further survived by sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Emma Stender of Norwood Young America, Verdilla Stender of Montevideo, Hilda Noerenberg of New Germany, and Edna and Norman Arnold of Annandale; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Alvin is preceded in death by his parents, Gottlieb and Minnie Stender; brothers, Raymond, Erwin, and Edwin Stender; and a sister, Elda Schmidt.
Funeral services were Sunday, Oct. 29, 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Lester Prairie, with the Rev. Grant T. Bode officiating. Interment was at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Lester Prairie.
Alvin's grandchildren: Allen Stender, Michael Stender, Dawn Oman, Anna Strand, James C. Braunwarth, and Matthew Braunwarth served as casket bearers.
The Johnson Funeral Home, Waconia, handled the arrangements.
