Corina C. Sterner
Corina C. Sterner, age 73 of Winsted and formerly of Waverly, died Monday. Oct. 30, 2000, at her residence in Winsted.
She was born Aug. 3, 1927, in Winsted, the daughter of Norbert and Anna (Remer) Fasching.
Corina graduated from ninth grade at Holy Trinity High School in 1942.
On July 21, 1948, Corina and Joseph L Sterner were joined in holy marriage at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Winsted. God blessed their marriage with eight children.
Corina was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Waverly, and also was active in the Women's Circle.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and was always devoted to her family.
Corina is survived by her husband Joseph; children: David (Susan) Sterner of Gainesville, Fla.; Jeff (Connie) Sterner, Mike (Sandy) Sterner, and Gary (Vicki) Sterner, all of Winsted; Tom (Laura) Sterner, and Peggy (Rick) Borders, all of Howard Lake; Karen (Joel) Engel of Chaska; and Lynn Karas of Winsted; 21 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren;
She is further survived by sisters, Benilda Schermann of Winsted, and Bernadine (Edmund) Nowak of Silver Lake; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Marie (Bill) Kehr of Phoenix, Ariz.; Diane (Brendan) Gallagher of Tacoma,Wash.; Janet (Louis) Becker of Rockford, Ill.; and Gerald (Ronnie) Sterner of Victoria; and other relatives and friends.
Corina was preceded in death by her parents, Norbert and Anna Fasching; a brother, George Fasching; and sisters, Alma Bebo and Delphine Quast.
A concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial was Friday, Nov. 3. 10 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Waverly. The Revs. Robert Wiley and William F. Martin were the concelebrants. Patty Munson was the organist. Interment followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Friends called from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at the Chilson Funeral Home, Winsted, with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service led by Sister Francita Schermann, OSF.
Casket bearers were Brian Sterner, Todd Sterner, Tom Borders, Joe Borders, Chris Sterner, Gene Hausladen, and Aaron Sterner.
Memorials are preferred to Ridgeview HomeCare/Hospice Program, who were invaluable to Corina, Joe and the entire family. The family appreciates the support of Chaplain Jeff Harter, Sharon, Laura, and the entire staff
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
