Leo F. Strauss obituary 5/3/99


Leo F. Strauss, age 85 of Winsted, died Monday, May 3,
1999, at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
Leo was born in Hale Township, McLeod County, on Nov. 17,
1913, the son of Henry and Anna Osterbauer Strauss.
On Sept. 4, 1944, Leo was joined in holy marriage to Bernice
R. Lewandowski at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Silver Lake. God blessed
their marriage with four children.
For a brief time, Leo engaged in farming in Victor Township,
Wright County. He later had a bulk milk route for Pure Milk Products and
a school bus route in rural Silver Lake.
Leo worked at Millerbernd Manufacturing from 1957 until
1978.
He was a life-long member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church
and belonged to the Catholic Order of Foresters Holy Trinity Court #1054.
Leo also loved fishing and enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include his wife Bernice; children, Priscilla
Habisch, Kenny Strauss, Patty Strauss and Jerry (Debbie) Strauss, all of
Winsted; and grandchildren: Lynn (Dan) Barney, Ricky (Cary) Habisch, Terry
Habisch, Patti Habisch and Matt Strauss.
He is further survived by great-grandchildren: Cody Barney,
Dustin Barney, Nick Habisch, Courtney Habisch, Tyler Habisch and Brandon
Habisch; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, many other relatives
and friends.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents; five infant brothers;
a sister, Irene Mallak; a son-in-law, Dick Habisch; and by his parents-in-law,
Frank and Josephine Lewandowski.
A Mass of Christian Burial was Thursday, May 6, 1999, 10:30
a.m., at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, with the Rev. Paul L.
Wolf as the celebrant. Dave Sherman was the lector for the Mass. Interment
followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Friends called at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted,
Wednesday, May 5, from 4 to 8:30 p.m. A parish prayer service was held on
Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. and a Catholic Order of Foresters Rosary was
recited at 7:30 p.m.
Ron Lewandowski, Mark Lewandowski, Bob Herbert, Joe Mallak,
Jim Herzog and Leo Weber served as the casket bearers.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
