On May 8, 1929, Selma was united in marriage to Arthur Strey at Zion Lutheran Church, Mayer, by the Rev. Erthel. The couple lived with Herman and Emma Strey, Selma's father- and mother-in-law until 1933, when they moved to the Rudolph Lueck farm southeast of Lester Prairie.
In 1935, Selma and Arthur moved to a farm by Foley, Minn., and they lived there until 1938, when they bought a farm three miles north of Lester Prairie. The couple lived on the farm until 1943, when they moved into the town of Lester Prairie.
