William Henry Tuey
William Henry Tuey, age 97 of Cokato, died Saturday, July 17, 1999.
Bill was born Dec. 9, 1901, to George and Ida (Harter) Tuey. He grew up in Kingston, Minn. and later, moved to Rice Lake and worked for Amos Custer.
It was in Rice Lake that Bill met his wife, Adeline. They were married July 7, 1926.
Bill farmed all of his life just north of Cokato. He worked at Johnson Produce of Cokato and refused to eat chicken after that.
He enjoyed playing horseshoes, checkers, and reading. Bill and Adeline also enjoyed going to South Haven for the fish fry every Friday night with Adeline's brothers.
After moving to Cokato Manor Nursing Home in 1988, Bill passed away there July 17, 1999, having reached the age of 97 years, seven months and eight days.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Adeline; son, Denton; daughter, Betty Ring; two sons-in-law, Vernon Nelson and Don Pipal; four brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include his daughters: Milly Pipal of St. Bonifacius; Helen (Fred) Harms of Cologne; Bonnie (Charles) Johnson of Howard Lake; and Grace Nelson of Cokato; a sister Florence Pettit; sister-in-law, Lorraine Hall; brother-in-law, Leland Pettit; 15 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Tuesday, July 20, 1999, at the First Baptist Church of Cokato with the Rev. Dan Swanson officiating. Organist was Jan Ostroot; vocalists were Ramona Nelson and Darcy Nelson.
Interment was at the Cokato City Cemetery. Casket bearers were Bill's 15 grandchildren: Audrey Foley, Delores Hanson, Dorothy Harms, Darren Johnson, Jerod Johnson, Mark Johnson, Randall Johnson, Roberta Lauzon, Darcy Nelson, Vernon Nelson, Dennis Pipal, Vicki Pipal, Douglas Pipal, Jerry Ring, and Deborah Sorensen.
