Marvin H. Uecker obituary, 9/17/2000


Marvin H. Uecker, age 81 of rural Annandale, died Sunday,
Sept. 17, 2000, at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Marvin was born March 16, 1919, on the Uecker homestead
in Albion Township, the son of Hubert and Elisa (Brandt) Uecker.
He was born again to be God’s own child by the “washing
of water in the Word” when he was baptized on April 20, 1919, by the
Rev. Streufert. He also was instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed
in the Christian faith at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Middleville Township,
on April 9, 1933, by the Rev. Kanning. He was given Psalm 27:4 as his confirmation
memory verse.
On July 20, 1943, Marvin and Irma Koepke were joined in
holy marriage at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Middleville Township, by
the Rev. Klausmeier. God blessed their marriage with five children.
Marvin engaged in farming his entire life. For many years,
along with his brother, Vernon, Marvin did custom silo filling for area
farmers. He was a longtime active member of N.F.O. and later, sold seed
corn and feed.
He was a former school board member of rural School District-Albion
Center.
Marvin was a lifetime faithful member of Bethlehem Lutheran
Church. Through the years, he was an elder, an usher, a choir member, and
also held many other church offices.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Irma; his
children: Myron (Joan) Uecker of Buffalo, Ralph (Cheryl) Uecker of Maple
Lake, Mary Ann (Ron) Geisinger of Annandale, Barb (Duane) Major of Glenwood
and Jane (Tim) Mol of Annandale; grandchildren: Jeff (Laura) Uecker of Ramsey,
Sonya (Mark) Painschab of Chaska, Mitch Uecker of Maple Lake and his fiancee,
Kim; Nicki (Jesse) Chappell of Long Lake, Lori (Rick) Steffen of Annandale,
Michelle (Brian) Hofmann of Brooten, Jason (Anne) Major of Starbuck, and
Micah, Elisa, Sarah, Joshua and Caleb Mol, all of Annandale.
Marvin is further survived by great-grandchildren, Benjamin
and Elliot Uecker, and Cameron Painschab; brothers, Vernon Uecker of Annandale,
Eldon Uecker of Howard Lake, and Harold (Lorraine) Uecker of Buffalo; sisters,
Gladys (Ted) Goerke of Brooklyn Park, and Marion (Jacob) Oswald of La Mesa,
Calif.; a brother-in-law, Edwin Koepke; and a sister-in-law, Frieda Gunderson,
both of Annandale; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and
friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Elisa
Uecker; and an infant granddaughter (Major).
A funeral service was Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2 p.m., at the
Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Middleville Township, with the Rev. Leland D.
Bendix officiating. Interment followed at the Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery.
Ruth Goerke was the organist for the service. Soloist
Jane Mol sang “No More Nights.” Congregational hymns were “What
a Friend We Have in Jesus,” “How Great Thou Art,” and “I’m
But a Stranger Here.”
Honorary casket bearers were Caleb Mol, Joshua Mol, Sarah
Mol, Elisa Mol, Michelle Hofmann, Lori Steffen, Nicki Chappell and Sonya
Painschab.
Active casket bearers were Jeff Uecker, Mitch Uecker, Rick
Steffen, Jason Major, Mark Painschab, Jesse Chappell, Micah Mol and Brian
Hofmann.
Friends called from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. l9, at the
Peterson Chapel, Buffalo, with a prayer service at 8 p.m.
The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo served the family.
