Steven Craig Volness
Steven Craig Volness, age 45 of Fairbury, Neb., died Thursday, April 1, 1999, at his parents' home in rural Plato.
He was born in St. Paul, Minn. on Nov. 3, 1953, the son of Arnold C. and Jean Onnen Volness.
Following graduation from high school, Steven attended St. Cloud State University for two years.
For the past 7 1/2 years, Steven has been a life skills trainer with Region V Services in Fairbury, working with mentally retarded and developmentally disabled persons.
Steven is survived by his parents, Arnold C. and Jean Volness of Plato; brothers, David C. Volness of Plato and Paul C. (Laura) Volness of Winsted; a sister, Katherine C. (Jack Poquette) Volness of Dassel; and nephews and nieces: Samuel Poquette; Jacob, Angela, Bailey and Joshua Volness.
He is further survived by aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Funeral services were Monday, April 5, 2 p.m., at the Good Shepherd Free Lutheran Church in Cokato. The Rev. Lyndon Korhonen officiated and interment followed at Good Shepherd Free Lutheran Cemetery.
Debra Olson was the organist for the funeral service. Linda Korhonen was the soloist and she sang "In The Garden."
"The Old Rugged Cross," "Amazing Grace! How Sweet the Sound" and "God Be with You Til We Meet Again" were sung as congregational hymns.
Special music was "Spirit In The Sky." Family thoughts were delivered by Tony Onnen.
David Volness, Paul Volness, Tony Onnen, Jack Poquette, Tom Brown and George Shada served as the casket bearers.
Friends called at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted on Sunday, April 4 from 4 to 6 p.m.
