Mass of Christian burial for Terrence Peter
Wagener, age 54 of rural Glencoe, was Thursday, Aug. 12, 1999,
11 a.m., at the Church of St. Pius X, Glencoe.
Terry died Saturday, Aug. 7, 1999, at the
Glencoe Area Health Center.
Terry was born July 6, 1945, in Glencoe, the
son of Michael and Lillian (Bedner) Wagener. He received the
sacraments of baptism, first communion, and confirmation at St.
Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Glencoe.
Terry attended St. Peter and Paul Catholic
School and graduated from the Glencoe High School in 1963.
On Oct. 23, 1963, he enlisted in the United
States Army, where he served until his honorable discharge May
8, 1965.
Terry worked at 3M, Hutchinson, for several
years before going into farming full-time.
On Aug. 20, 1966, Terry was united in marriage
to Kathleen Feitl at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hopkins. Their
marriage was blessed with four children: Peter, Mark, Lisa, and
Julie.
Terry farmed from 1968 to 1991, after which
he was employed at Softsoap Enterprises in Chaska until 1994.
He was then employed by Glencoe-Silver Lake public schools from
1994 to the present, and most recently was the head custodian
at Henry Hill Intermediate School.
A lifelong member of St. Peter and Paul, and
later, St. Pius X in Glencoe, Terry belonged to the Knights of
Columbus and served on the parish council. He was also a member
of the Catholic Aid Association, the Glencoe VFW, and the Glencoe
Lions.
Terry held terms on the Bergen Township board
for many years and was a member of the Minnesota Association
of Township Officers. He also served on the Glencoe Community
Education board.
On Saturday, Aug. 7, 1999, Terry entered eternal
rest at the age of 54 years, one month, and one day. He was preceded
in death by his father, Michael Wagener; and grandparents, Peter
and Rosalia Wagener and John and Frances Bednar.
Terry is survived by his children: Peter Wagener,
Mark Wagener, Lisa Wendlandt and husband, Brent, and Julie Wagener,
all of Glencoe; his mother, Lillian Wagener of Bloomington; grandchildren,
Alyson and Alexis Wendlandt and Tori Millerbernd; his former
wife, Kathy Wagener of Glencoe; former parents-in-law, Ray and
Jean Feitl of Hopkins; and former sister-in-law, Karen Meuers
of Mayer.
He is further survived by brothers and sisters:
Fr. John Wagener of San Antonio, Tex.; Dennis Wagener (wife,
Claudette) of Scottsdale, Ariz.; Rita Glatzmaier (husband, Bud)
of Bloomington; Rosia Bailey (husband, Mickey) of Bloomington;
Barb Levine (husband, Ken) of Lake Forest, Calif.; nieces and
nephews: Kim Kuntz (husband, Russ), Ann Borders, Doris Lunneborg
(husband, Ross), Sara Glatzmaier, Marion Glatzmaier, Gail Eaton
(husband: Michael); grand nieces and nephews, Travis and Kelly
Kuntz, Ryan Borders, and Shane and Kara Lunneborg; as well as
other relatives and many friends.
Emily Wilkins was the organist for the funeral
service. “Amazing Grace,” “On Eagle’s Wings,”
“Hail Mary, Gentle Woman,” “Prayer of St. Francis,”
“I Am The Bread of Life,” and “Come to His Aid”
were the congregational hymns.
Serving as casket bearers were Roger Krohn,
Gary Schuette, Gary Debner, Wade Trnka, Tim Mathews, and Sonny
Teubert. Honorary casket bearers were Rod Graupmann, Henry Seil,
Bud Glatzmaier, Mickey Bailey, Pat O’Donnell, and Bob Shanahan.
Visitation was Wednesday, Aug. 11, at the
Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel, Glencoe, from 4 to 8 p.m. A Knights
of Columbus rosary was at 7 p.m. , followed by a parish prayer
service at 7:30 p.m.
Interment was in the Glencoe Catholic Cemetery.
