James John Wanous obituary, 1/12/2000


Funeral services for James John Wanous, 94, of rural Silver
Lake were held on Monday, Jan. 17, from the Maresh Funeral Home in Silver
Lake, with the Rev. Deanna Reikow officiating.
Mr. Wanous died on Jan. 12, 2000.
Pianist was Barb Wawrzyniak, and soloist was Jackie Konerza.
Pallbearers were John Andreasen, Dick Wanous, Corey Wendlandt, Brent Wendlandt,
Ryan Wendlandt, Ken Engelmann, David Giehtbrock, Sean Andreasen, Katia Andreasen
and Erik Andreasen. Interment was in the Bohemian National Cemetery, Rich
Valley Township.
Mr. Wanous was born on Oct. 8, 1905, in Rich Valley Township
to George and Sophie (Vorba) Wanous. He spent his youth on the farm and
went to District 12 Country School and to Silver Lake High School.
Mr. Wanous spent three years working in Washington state,
and then returned home to farm with his brother, Howard.
Mr. Wanous enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, sightseeing
and visiting with friends and neighbors. He also enjoyed his nieces and
nephews. Mr. Wanous was an avid reader.
Survivors include his brothers, Howard and Effery Wanous;
sisters, Katherine Butterfass and Dorothea Engelmann; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Rufus,
Rueben and Richard Wanous.
The Maresh Funeral Home of Silver Lake handled arrangements.
