Effrey “Jeff” Rutherford Wanous obituary, 8/10/2000


Funeral services for Effrey Rutherford Wanous, 99, of rural
Silver Lake were held Thursday, Aug. 10, from the Maresh Funeral Home in
Silver Lake, with the Rev. Deanna Reikow officiating.
Mr. Wanous died on Aug. 7, 2000.
The pianist was Barb Wawrzyniak. The soloists were Kent
Dahlman and Jane and Mark Schmidt who sang “Just As I Am.” The
congregational hymns were “How Great Thou Art” and “Savior
Like A Shepherd.”
Pallbearers were Mike Wanous, Keri Wanous, Michelle Wanous,
Juli Wanous, Daryl Dahlman, Jane Schmidt, Brian Dahlman, June Hartl, Dawn
Dahlman and Kent Dahlman. Interment followed the service at the Bohemian
National Cemetery in Rich Valley Township.
Mr. Wanous was born the son of George and Sophie (Vorba)
Wanous on Jan. 26, 1901, in Rich Valley Township of McLeod County. He attended
school at District 12.
He farmed with his brothers on Kale Avenue south of Silver
Lake. Mr. Wanous enjoyed farming and taking care of sheep and pigs. He
liked to spend his time reading, fishing and visiting with family and friends.
Mr. Wanous is survived by his brother, Howard Wanous and
wife, Marie, of Hutchinson; sisters, Katherine Butterfas of Farmington,
Dorothy Engelmann of Glencoe; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives
and friends.
Mr. Wanous was preceded in death by his parents and brothers,
Rufus, Rueben, Richard and James Wanous.
