Harvey Westphal, age 90 of Winsted and formerly of Buffalo
Lake, died Friday, Feb. 5, 1999, at St. Mary’s Care Center, Winsted.
Harvey was born in Preston Lake Township, Renville County,
on Aug. 8, 1908, the son of August and Wilhelmina Schaumann Westphal.
He was a former resident of Lester Prairie and had resided
at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted for the past 30 years.
Harvey is survived by a sister-in-law, Rose Westphal of
Stewart; nieces, nephews, and many friends at St. Mary’s Care Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Esther
Berger; and three brothers: Albert, Henry, and Walter Westphal.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 9, 1 p.m. at the Chapel
of St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted with the Rev. John A. Peterson of the
Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cokato officiating.
Lynda Peterson was the organist for the service and Kathy
Hendrickson was the vocalist. “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”
was sung as a congregational hymn.
Casket bearers were Stanley Westphal, Larry Westphal, Wesley
Westphal, Weston Westphal, and Jill Westphal. Interment was at Zion Lutheran
Cemetery in Buffalo Lake.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
