Donald L. Westrup obituary 2/8/99


Donald L. Westrup, age 66 of Winsted, died Monday, Feb.
8, 1999, at the Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Donald was born in Eden Valley, Minn. May 19, 1932, the
son of Joseph H. and Dorothy M. Dreis Westrup.
He graduated from high school in Eden Valley in 1950 and
later attended and graduated from the College of St. Thomas in 1956.
Donald also honorably served his country in the United
States Air Force as a staff sergeant.
On June 9, 1956, Donald was joined in holy marriage to
Catherine E. McDonnell at the Church of St. Mary in Waverly. God blessed
their marriage with three children: Mary, Teresa, and Thomas.
For many years, Donald was employed at Honeywell and at
Xerox. In 1991, he founded Lasermark, Incorporated, and he presently served
as CEO of the Golden Valley company.
In addition, Donald was a director of Zinpro Corporation
in Edina and also a partner with his son in the Coachwork Connection of
Lester Prairie at the time of his death.
Donald was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church
in Winsted.
He is survived by his wife Catherine; children, Mary (Richard)
Gould of St. Paul, Teresa (Gordon) Mitchell of Apple Valley, Thomas L. Westrup
of Winsted and special friend Carolyn Ross; grandchildren, Trevor and Katie
Gould, Becky, Joey, and Jenny Mitchell; a brother, David L. (Theresa) Westrup
of New Ulm; a sister, Audrey (Gary) Figgins of California; his mother-in-law,
Mary McDonnell of Waverly; a sister-in-law, Mary Anderson of Minnetrista;
many other relatives and friends.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and
Dorothy Westrup.
A Mass of Christian Burial was Friday, Feb. 12, 10:30 a.m.,
at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. The Rev. Paul L. Wolf was the
celebrant and Lavon Kielkucki was the organist for the mass. Interment followed
in the parish cemetery.
Friends called at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted on
Thursday, Feb. 11, from 4 to 8:30 p.m., with a parish prayer service at
8 p.m.
Casket bearers were Michael Anderson, Mark Anderson, Chuck
Dressen, Trevor Gould, Joseph Westrup, and Bob Westrup.
Memorials are suggested for the Holy Trinity Educational
Trust Fund, P. O. Box 9, Winsted, MN. 55395.
Donald was very much loved by his family and he will be
missed by many.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
