Wilbert Ernst Wolter obituary, 1/5/2000


Funeral services for Wilbert Ernst Wolter, 77, of Cosmos
and formerly of Norwood, were held on Saturday, Jan. 8, from St. Paul’s
Evangelical Reformed Church of Hamburg, with the Rev. Hank Bowen officiating.
Mr. Wolter died on Wednesday morning, Jan. 5, 2000, at
the Cosmos Health Care Center.
The organist was Patty Bowen, and the congregational hymns
were “Asleep In Jesus,” “What A Friend We Have In Jesus”
and “Amazing Grace.”
The pallbearers were Vernon Debner, Dennis Wolter, Donald
Wolter, Stanley Wolter, Alden Wolter, Richard Bruesehoff and Douglas Wolter.
The honorary pallbearer was Melvin Wolter. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Wolter was born in Washington Lake Township, Sibley
County, on Feb. 19, 1922, to J. Dietrich and Martha S. (Scheele) Wolter.
He was baptized on March 26, 1922, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Reformed Church
by the Rev. G. Schmid and confirmed at the same church on April 15, 1936,
by the Rev. O.J. Vriesen. His education was in District No 25 Country School
in Green Isle Township.
Mr. Wolter spent his working years as a farm hand for various
farmers in Carver and McLeod counties. He retired in 1987 and became a resident
at Heartland Retirement Center in Plato.
Mr. Wolter was a life-long member of St. Paul’s Evangelical
Reformed Church and his favorite pastime was following the Minnesota Twins
baseball team.
After a brief stay in Glencoe, Mr. Wolter moved to the
Cosmos Healthcare Center in 1993.
Survivors include his brother, Harold Wolter and wife,
Erna, of Mayer; four sisters-in-law, Anna Wolter of Lester Prairie, Edna
Wolter of Hopkins, Cinderella McQuay of Tucson, Ariz., and Mabel Wolter
of Norwood Young America; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives,
and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers,
William, Otto, Albert, Elmer, Clifford and Edwin Wolter; and four sisters,
Erna Debner, Hilda Bruesehoff, Irene Wolter and Lillian Wolter.

handled arrangements.
