Harold E. Wolter obituary, 3/18/2000


Harold E. Wolter, age 88 of Mayer, died Saturday, March
18, 2000, at Good Samaritan Center, Waconia.
Harold was born Dec. 9, 1911, at Washington Lake Township,
Sibley County, Minn., the son of J. Diedrick and Martha (Scheele) Wolter.
He was baptized Jan. 23, 1912, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Reformed Church,
Hamburg, by the Rev. J. C. Ochsner; and confirmed March 28, 1926, at the
same church by the Rev George Schmid.
On Dec. 9, 1936, Harold married Erna E. Lueck at St. Mark
Lutheran Church, New Germany, by the Rev. Theodore Rolf.
Harold and Erna worked as hired farm hands early in their
marriage, and in 1948, purchased their own farm in rural Mayer, where they
farmed until Harold retired. In 1972, they built a house in their woods.
A faithful member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, New Germany,
Harold served on the finance committee. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking,
and welding.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents J. Diedrick
and Martha Wolter, a granddaughter, Brenda Wolter; brothers, William, Otto,
Albert, Elmer, Clifford, Edwin, and Wilbert Wolter; and sisters, Erna Debner,
Hilda Bruesehoff, Irene Wolter, and Lillian Wolter.
He is survived by his wife Erna; a son, Alden Wolter of
Shakopee; daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Virgil Stender of Norwood
Young America; grandchildren, Roger and Michelle Wolter of Jordan, Lori
Wolter of Shakopee, Denise Stender of Lester Prairie, and Derek Stender
of Norwood Young America.
Harold is further survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law,
Edna Wolter of Hopkins; Anna Wolter of Lester Prairie; Mabel Wolter of Norwood
Young America, Cinderella McQuay of Tucson, Ariz.; Christian Lueck of Waconia,
Anna Buehler of Waconia, and Olga and Edwin Foster of Waconia; nieces, nephews,
other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Wednesday, March 22, 10:30 a.m.,
at St. Mark Lutheran Church, New Germany, with the Rev. Edwin Narr officiating.
Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Casket bearers were Roger Wolter, Derek Stender, Donald
Wolter, Richard Bruesehoff, Dennis Wolter, Lester Buehler, Marvin Green,
and Larry Lueck.
Arrangements were by Johnson Funeral Home, Waconia.
