Orville Henry Reinhard Wolter obituary 3/25/99


Funeral services for Orville Henry Reinhard Wolter, 80,
of Glencoe, were held on Sunday, March 28, from the First Evangelical Lutheran
Church in Glencoe, with the Rev. Vance Becker officiating.
Mr. Wolter died on March 25, 1999, at Glencoe Area Health
Center.
Organist was Dawn Wolter, and the congregational hymns
were “My Maker, Now Be Nigh” and “What A Friend We Have In
Jesus.” The Senior Choir sang “My Jesus, I Love Thee” and
“Here I Am, Lord.”
Pallbearers were Richard Herrmann, Donald Miller, Robert
Wolter, Ronald Wolter, Kenneth Dreier and Bernard Dreier. Interment was
held in the church cemetery.
Mr. Wolter was born to J. Peter and Margaretha (Engelmann)
Wolter on June 24, 1918, in Bergen Township. He was baptized at home by
the Rev. Zwintscher on July 3, 1918. His confirmation was held on April
9, 1933 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Plato also by the Rev. Zwintscher.
Mr. Wolter served his country by fighting in World War
II from 1942-1945.
On June 6, 1948, Mr. Wolter was united in marriage with
Bernice Dreier at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe by the
Rev. E. Streufert. The couple lived in rural Glencoe where they farmed until
1960. From 1960 to 1974, Mr. Wolter was a custodian at First Lutheran Church
and school.
Mr. Wolter then worked at Glencoe Manufacturing until 1984.
In his retirement he worked part time at Hands in Winthrop.
He enjoyed dancing and playing cards.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice of Glencoe; children,
Shirley Carlson and husband, Larry, of Elk River, Dennis Wolter of Glencoe,
Doris Lieske and husband, Earl, of Elk River, Dale Wolter and wife, Sharon,
of Glencoe, Karen Boettcher of Henderson, Lowell Wolter of Columbia Heights;
grandchildren, Brent, Mark and Matt Carlson, Michael, Kristin and Jessica
Wolter, Michelle and Paul Boettcher; great-grandson, Mason Tesch; brothers,
Raymond D. Wolter of Hutchinson, Melvin Wolter and wife, LaVerna, of Lester
Prairie, Ardell Wolter and wife, Erna, of Norwood Young America; in-laws,
Gordon and Alice Dreier of Elk River, Raymond and Marianne Dreier of Glencoe,
Dolores Dreier of Glencoe; special friends, Espen Tjoenneland, Bastian Korbes,
and Andreas Faber; as well as many other friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers,
Edmund and Maynard Wolter; his sister, Laverna Miller; and in-laws, Ervin
Miller, Howard Dreier, and Ruth Wolter; nephew and godson, David Miller.
The Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel of Glencoe handled arrangements.
