Donald R. Yager
Donald R. Yager, age 72 of Monticello and formerly of Howard Lake, died Friday, July 21, 2000, at the Monticello-Big Lake Hospital in Monticello.
Funeral services were Monday, July 24, 11 a.m., at Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello, with the Rev. Tim Rudolphi officiating. Interment was at Cokato City Cemetery, Cokato.
Serving as casket bearers were Allen Melquist, Howard Melquist, David Gigley, Ed Kunze, Wally Yager, and Roger Young.
Visitation was Sunday evening, 4 to 7 p.m., at the funeral chapel.
Donald was born March 9, 1928, in Staples, Minn., the son of Edward G. and Frieda M. (Hackenmueller) Yager.
He moved with his family to the Howard Lake area in 1945, where he farmed with his father until 1962. He then moved to Cokato and did handyman jobs around the community.
In the early 1980s, Donald moved to St. Michael, and for the past six years, made his home in the Monticello area. Most recently, he was employed at Options, Inc. of Big Lake.
Donald is survived by brothers and sisters: Edward (Marge) Yager of Grygla, Minn.; Dorothy M. Wysong of St. Paul, Betty Ann Melquist of Dassel, James C. (Linda) Yager of Woodbury, and Shirley (Ed) Kunze of Pine City; many nieces and nephews; and foster family members Michael and Wren Bray, Sonja, Laura Ann, and Jerome, all of Monticello.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Ralph A. Yager.
Arrangements were by Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel, Monticello.
