Alice Margaret Zellman
Funeral services for Alice Margaret Zellmann, age 74 of Lester Prairie, were Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, 2 p.m., at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie. On Sunday, Jan. 24, 1999, Alice entered eternal rest at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park at the age of 74 years, five months and 24 days.
Alice was born the daughter of Fred and Gertrude (Adams) Tonn in Lester Prairie on July 30, 1924. She was baptized Aug. 24, 1924, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie by the Rev. J. A. Schert; and confirmed there by the same April 10, 1938.
Alice attended St. Peter Parochial School until the eighth grade. She then attended two years of high school at Lester Prairie Public School.
On Oct. 28, 1942, Alice was united in marriage to Byron Zellmann at St. Peter Lutheran Church by the Rev. VomHoff.
During her life, Alice was a member of the Legion Auxiliary and also a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church Ladies Aid.
Alice found the greatest enjoyment in playing cards. She loved to play sheepshead and belonged to a 500 card club for many years. She also embroidered many sets of dish towels and enjoyed making quilts for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Byron; son, Kendall; an infant daughter; son-in-law, Robert Christenson; grandson, Nicholas Munsch; brother, Aaron Zellmann; and step-brother, Waldon Wolff.
Alice is survived by her children: Daryl Zellmann (wife, Diane) of Lester Prairie, Sharon Kuntz (husband, Rodney) of Lester Prairie, Sandra Anderson (husband, Don) of Minneapolis, Kathy Young (husband, Bruce) of Lester Prairie, Pam Schrempp (fiance, Doug Munsch) of Glencoe, and Mary Fillbrandt (husband, Bruce) of Mayer, Minn.
She is further survived by a daughter-in-law, Judi Unglaub (husband, Ron) of Lester Prairie; a sister, Dorothy Zellmann of Lester Prairie; a brother, Louis Tonn of New Mexico; sisters-in-law Maxine Almquist of Lester Prairie and Elvira Wolff of Norwood Young America; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The Rev. Grant Bode officiated at the funeral service, with Jane Holasek as the organist. Congregational hymns were "Amazing Grace," "For All The Saints," "Just As I Am," and "Abide With Me."
Serving as casket bearers were Travis Zellmann, Brian Teubert, Mark Teubert, Chad Teubert, Nathan Fillbrandt, and Amber Young.
Visitation was on Tuesday, Jan. 26, from 4-8 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie. Interment was in the church cemetery.
