Clarence "Curly" Ziemer

Funeral services for Clarence "Curly" Ziemer, age 82 of Biscay, were Monday, Oct. 2, 2000, at St. John's Church of Biscay. Clarence died Friday, Sept. 29, 2000.

Officiating at the funeral service were the Revs. Ronald Ziemer and Paul Gould. Chad Ziemer and Genise Quast were organists. The congregational hymns were "How Great Thou Art," and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus."

Soloists Rev. Jim and Shirley Dahlren sang "Great is Thy Faithfulness," and "Softly and Tenderly." The St. John's Church Choir sang "My God And I." Interment was in the church cemetery.

Chad Ziemer, Christopher Ziemer, Heather Lee, Jason Ziemer, and Dana Ziemer were casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers were Dawn Richner, Hilary Wear, Sara Bauer, Chris Lee, and Lonnie Haas.

Visitation was Sunday evening at the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel, Glencoe.

Clarence Herbert Ziemer was born the son of Emil and Mary (Rhode) Ziemer Sept. 26, 1918, in St. Bonifacius. When he was a young child, his family moved to Biscay.

He graduated from the Hutchinson High School and attended Dunwoody Institute, Minneapolis.

On June 14, 1942, Clarence was united in marriage to Rosalenda Rannow. To this union, four children were born: Ronald, Gary, Laurie, and Robert.

The couple was engaged in farming on farms near Silver Lake and Biscay. After retiring from farming, Clarence worked at Green Giant in Glencoe.

Clarence was very involved at St. John's Church, where he served as a church board and cemetery board member. He also served on the Biscay Village Council

He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, bowling, and watching sports.

At the time of his death, Clarence had reached the age of 82 years and three days.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Robert; granddaughters, Faith and Paige Ziemer; sisters, Alvina Benton and Viola Ziemer; and a brother, Willard Ziemer.

Clarence is survived by his wife Rosalenda of Glencoe; sons, the Rev. Ronald Ziemer (wife, Lin) of Urbana, Ill.; and Gary Ziemer (wife, Carmen) of Glencoe; a daughter, Laurie Shoberg (husband, Jim) of Rockford; grandchildren, Chad Ziemer (special friend, Dawn Richner) of Coon Rapids; Christopher Ziemer (fiance, Hilary Wear) of Roseville; Jason Ziemer (special friend, Sara Bauer) of Roseville; Heather Lee (husband, Chris) of Minneapolis; and Dana Ziemer (special friend, Lonnie Haas) of Urbana, Ill.; sisters-in-law, Vera Ziemer of Hutchinson and Esther Rannow of Henderson; brother-in-law, Earl Ayer of Buffalo; as well as many other relatives and friends.
