Marjorie Ione Staaf Dahlberg, age 81 of Howard Lake, died
Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, in Waconia.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Dec. 6, 10 a.m., at Swanson-Peterson
Funeral Home, Howard Lake, with the Rev. Pat Ridpath officiating.
Visitation was Tuesday, Dec. 5, from 4 to 8 p.m.
Interment will take place in the spring at the Howard Lake
City Cemetery.
Marjorie was born Feb. 24, 1919, in Dassel, to Oscar and
Agnes (Nordine) Staaf. She was baptized Oct. 16, 1919, in Delano, by her
grandfather, the Rev. Gustaf Staaf.
In 1937, Marjorie graduated from Dassel High School as
valedictorian of her class. After graduation, she went to Minneapolis to
work for Erickson Brothers Gas.
Marjorie married Palmer K. Durdahl in 1943. The marriage
only lasted a short time. In 1963, she married Charles B. Dahlberg and moved
to Howard Lake.
Charles and Marjorie owned and operated the Model Eat Shope
and in 1970, they opened Char-Mar’s Landing on Howard Lake (where the Howard
Lake Motel now sits.)
Charlie passed away in 1987 and Marjorie retired.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and
a member and sponsor of Ducks Umlimited.
Marjorie enjoyed collecting books, especially recipe books.
At the time of her death, Marjorie had reached the age
of 81 years, nine months, and eight days.
She is survived by her son, Ken (Bonnie) Durdahl of Howard
Lake; a sister, Ruby Benson of Buffalo; a brother-in-law, Emil Sindt of
Texas; sisters-in-law, Ella Mae Dahlberg and Eleanore Dahlberg; nieces and
nephews: Pat (Ken) Anderson, Richard (Sammy) Sindt, all of Texas; Doug Sindt
of Alaska; Vicky (James) Grossenbach of Idaho; Michelle Day and Al Talbot
of Clearwater Lake; Art (Karen) Staaf of Prior Lake; Janet Benson of St.
Louis Park; Susie (Tim) Lenz of Delano; Rich (Deb) Dahlberg of Alaska; and
Ranae Dahlberg of Chanhassen.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; husbands,
Charles Dahlberg and Palmer Durdahl; brother, Byron; and sister, Delores
Sindt.
Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home, Howard Lake and Cokato,
handled the arrangements.
