Edna W. Hill
Edna W. Hill, age 80 of Mayer, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at her home in Waconia Township.
She was born March 29, 1920, at Benton Twp., Carver County, Minn., the daughter of Robert Sr., and Marie (Rolf) Stuewe. She was baptized April 18, 1920, at Zion Lutheran Church, Benton Twp., by the Rev. Herman AmEnd; and confirmed by the same March 25, 1934.
On Oct. 5, 1941, Edna married Harold G. Hill at Zion Lutheran Church, Benton Twp., by the Rev. AmEnd.
The center of Edna's life was her family and church, including Bible study, Lutheran Women's Missionary League, quilting, choir, and attendance at services. She always attended others with acts of kindness.
Edna was also very active in Lutheran High School, and attended her grandchildren's activities at school.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Hill; a granddaughter, Shannon Olson; parents, Robert Sr., and Marie Stuewe; stepmother, Minna Stuewe; sister, Esther Stuewe; and brothers, Edgar, Marvin, Howard, and Harold Stuewe.
Survivors include her husband Harold; children and spouses: Judy and the Rev. Bob Holmbeck of Gaylord, Eunice and Leo Deitemeyer of Montevideo, Fred and Susan Hill of Thompson, Mo.; Ranae and Al Burtman of Mayer, Mark and Debbie Hill of Mayer, and Brian and Evie Hill of Waconia; 22 grandchildren: Brenda and Scott Schmitz, David and Paula Holmbeck, Peter and Suzanne Holmbeck, Tim Deitemeyer, Matt and Zida Deitemeyer, Tina and Steve Mickle, Mary Deitemeyer, Tammy and Dale Willis, Tracy and Jim White, Tony and Kelli Hill, Nate and Heather Burtman, Jill and Anne Burtman, Stephanie, Jennifer, Jessica, Valerie and Amanda Hill, Jamie and Michael Hill, and Mike and Sean Olson; and 21 great-grandchildren.
She is further survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Marian Stuewe of Cologne; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Edna Stuewe of Glencoe; Esther Stuewe of Hamburg, Norma Stuewe of Belle Plaine, Dorothy Hill of Cottonwood, Ariz.; Roland Hill of Peoria, Ariz.; and Pat and Paula Plocher of Mankato, an aunt, Frances Stedman of Fullerton, Calif.; nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Friday, Dec. 29, 11 a.m., at Zion Lutheran Church, Mayer, with the Revs. Peter A. Meier and Jeff Harter officiating. Interment followed at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Meyer.
Casket bearers were Edna's grandchildren, David Holmbeck, Tim Deitemeyer, Tammy Willis, Jill Burtman, Stephanie Hill, and Michael Hill.
Arrangements were by Johnson Funeral Home, Waconia.
