Robert "Bud" Luedtke
Robert "Bud" Luedtke, age 83 of Norwood Young America, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, at the Good Samaritan Home, Waconia.
Robert was born the son of Hattie Luedtke on April 21, 1917, in Young America. He was baptized at Salem Lutheran Church, St. Paul, on May 1, 1917.
Robert graduated from Central High School in Norwood Young America. He served his country by joining the the Army from Feb. 26, 1941 to Jan. 21, 1946. During these five years, Robert served in New Guinea and the South Philippines and received numerous ribbons and awards.
Robert was a retired fireman and a member of the local VFW Post 1783. He loved playing scat and pinochle and also enjoyed spending time outdoors. Robert spent many hours outdoors hunting, fishing, watching birds, gardening, and always had time for a drive around Eagle or Hydes Lake.
At the time of his death Robert had reached the age of 83 years, seven months, and seven days.
Robert is survived by his children: James (Karen) Luedtke, Victoria; and Patricia (Vernon) Hayenga, Norwood Young America; grandchildren: Tania ZumBerge, Minneapolis; Christopher (Jodi) Luedtke Victoria; and Mark Luedtke, Osseo.
He is further survived by brothers: Victor Kuehl, Riverside, Calif.; Charles (Rita) Kuehl, Waconia; brother-in-law Kenneth (Irene) Norman, Winsted, and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Robert is preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen.
Services were Friday, Dec. 1, 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Norwood Young America with the Rev. Scott Gustafson officiating.
The organist was Arthur Fuchs and hymns were, "How Great Thou Art," and "Jesus Christ Is Risen Today."
Visitation was Thursday, Nov. 30 from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel, Norwood Young America. Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
Casket bearers were Tania ZumBerge, Christopher Luedtke, Mark Luedtke, Gary Norman, Dick Norman, and Bill Norman.
Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel, Norwood Young America, handled the arrangements.
