Marcel A. Millerbernd
Marcel A. Millerbernd, age 82 of Renville and formerly of Winsted, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at the Olivia Health Care Center.
Funeral services were Thursday, Nov. 30, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Renville, with the Rev. Paul van de Crommert officiating. Music was provided by Sandy Frank, organist, and Gina Hagen, vocalist. Interment took place at the Fairview Cemetery, Renville.
Visitation was Wednesday evening, 5 to 8 p.m., at the Dirks-Blem Funeral Home, Renville, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and also one hour prior to the service at the church Thursday.
Jim Kritzeck, Les Hagen, Mike Roos, Anthony Millerbernd, William Millerbernd, and Robert Millerbernd served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Jack Sandberg and David Peterson.
Marcel was born July 25, 1918, in Winsted, to Anton and Agnus (Zimmerman) Millerbernd. He moved to Renville with his family, where he lived on the family farm northeast of Renville. He attended Renville public schools, graduating from Renville High School in 1936.
On Nov. 23, 1943, Marcel was married to Esther Schneiderman at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
Following their marriage, Marcel continued farming and also worked at Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar as an oiler.
Marcel and Esther moved into Renville in 1992. Marcel entered the Olivia Health Care Center in 1999.
He was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Renville.
Marcel's hobbies included fishing, hunting, watching football on television, traveling, camping, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He and his wife also enjoyed spending the winter in McAllen, Texas.
Marcel is survived by his wife, Esther; three sons, Mike (and Joyce) of Lewistown, Mont.; Steve (and Rose) of Renville, and Jim (and Pandy) of Rosebud, Mont.; three daughters, Jeanette (and Larry) Roos of Renville, Chris (and Todd) Carlson of Willmar, and Barb (and Bob) Throngard of Alexandria; a brother, Art (and Alice) Millerbernd of Starbuck; 14 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Marcel was preceded in death by a sister, Marcella Bayerl; a niece, Suzanne Kritzeck; and a nephew, Michael Bayerl.
Dirks-Blem Funeral Service, Renville, handled the arrangements.
