Funeral services for Charles Osmek, 87, of the Glencoe and Silver Lake area were held on Friday, Dec. 22, from Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake, with the Rev. Bob Mraz officiating.
Mr. Osmek died of heart failure at Glencoe Regional Health Services on Dec. 17, 2000.
The congregational music was "Just a Closer Walk With Thee," "I Am the Bread of Life" and "How Great Thou Art." The choir sang "On Eagle's Wings."
Pallbearers were James Osmek, Richard Osmek, Jason Osmek, Brian Osmek, Kyle Osmek, Mark Lange and Michael Hoffman. Honorary pallbearers were Lori Osmek, Lenee Hoffman and Lana Lange. Interment was in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Silver Lake.
Mr. Osmek was born on March 12, 1913, in Rich Valley Township, McLeod County, to Henry and Christine Osmek. He attended District 66 country school in Rich Valley Township.
He married Clara Ardolf on Nov. 16, 1936. He was a farmer. After retiring from farming, Mr. Osmek worked several summers at Green Giant.
Mr. Osmek enjoyed watching wildlife, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a lifelong member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake.
Survivors include his children, Milan Osmek and wife, Diane, of Burnsville and David Osmek and wife, Karen, of Glencoe; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Albin Osmek and wife, Adeline, of St. Paul; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Barnes and husband, Jim, and Emily Ardolf.
Mr. Osmek was preceded in death by his wife, Clara, and parents.
The Maresh Funeral Home of Silver Lake handled arrangements.
