Josephine M. “Josie” Scheiber, age 96, Winsted
died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000 at St. Mary’s Care Center, Winsted.
Josie was born on Oct. 13, 1904 in Hollywood Township,
Carver County, the daughter of Edward and Johanna (Spain) Murphy.
On Oct. 7, 1936 Josephine Murphy and Joseph E. Scheiber
were joined in holy marriage at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church,Watertown.
God blessed their marriage with three daughters. Joseph Scheiber preceded
his wife in death on April 18, 1995.
Josie was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church,
Winsted and Holy Trinity’s Council of Catholic Women. She was a member of
the Holy Family Council # 204 for 50 years and also belonged to the St.
Anne’s Society.
Josie was a charter member of the St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary
was organized long time volunteer at St. Mary’s Care Center.
She is survived by her daughters: JoAnn (Val) LePage, Waverly;
Kathleen (Sylvan) Stephani, Minnetonka; and Carol (Paul) Zander of Alexandria.

Further surviving her are grandchildren: Patricia Heller,
Mary Jo Lemke, Tim LePage, Michele Luhmann and Lisa LePage; Julie Dunlop,
Robert Stephani and Cheryl Thompson; Michael, Steven, James and David Zander;
19 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law: Irene Hoffert; many other relatives
and friends.
In addition to her husband, Josie was preceded in death
by her parents, Edward and Johanna Murphy; a grandson, Mark Zander; a great
granddaughter, Samantha; four brothers, Thomas, Edward, Michael, and Martin
Murphy; and three sisters, Margaret McGrath, Marie Murphy, and Kathryn Otto.
A Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial for Josie was
Monday, Dec. 4, 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Winsted. The
Revs. Paul L. Wolf and Gerald E. Keefe were the concelebrants and interment
followed at the Holy Trinity Cemetery, Winsted.
Friends called from 3 – 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3 at the
Chilson Funeral Home, Winsted. A combined Holy Family Council Rosary and
St. Anne Society was recited at 4:30 p.m. and a parish prayer service was
Sunday evening, Dec. 3, at 7 p.m.
Organist for the mass was Lavon Kielkucki.
Honorary casket bearers were Steven, James, and David Zander.
Casket bearers were Val LePage, Tim LePage, Kathleen Stephani,
Robert Stephani, Paul Zander and Michael Zander.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
